Charite' Mattis is a filmmaker native of Washington, DC. She's had the passion for film and entertainment since she was a young child. Since high school she's created short films. In Undergrad she was apart of the Wilberforce University radio station where she had a radio show "Loud Mouth Love". After graduation she served as the National Undergraduate Representative for her sorority Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated.  In 2013 she decided to continue on with her passion of filmmaking by enrolling into The Savannah College of Art and Design to persue an MFA in Film and Television. When meeting Charite' you will instantly notice her joyus personality and infectious smile. Not only does she love the art of creating, but also collecting all styles of glasses frames. When she brings them both together they show how much of a GlassesFanatic she is. She hopes everything she creates will help people "See Life Through My Lens".

Charite enjoys coming of age stories in film. In her films she wants to tell stories through the female's persepective. This is evident in her most recent film, "Pretty Brown Brown." This film serves as her thesis film. Shecreated the character Isis Brown because I feel that every woman at some point in her life has either been Isis or has a friend that is Isis. We all strive to be successful in life, but with success there will be something that is lacking. Studies show that the more educated a woman is it is less likely she will find love or marry someone in her lifetime. Although I will discuss how her love life is not doing as well compared to her career; I won’t let my character dwell on that. Everybody in life will experience love or love loss, but to get ahead you can’t let those things distract you. Isis Brown is a woman about her business and living life to the fullest. She’s classy yet sassy and knows what she wants in life. She has no problem with cutting off a relationship that is not equally split and won’t stop her life just for love. If a man wants Isis they will have to come correct. With this film I want to inspire women to not make themselves smaller to get the attention from a man. I see that a lot in my generation. I hope this film will help them see that if you’re in a relationship the other person should help you to grow in all aspects of life.
